Deluxe 2011 Preview

Deluxe is this Saturday and I'm super excited! I've participated in Deluxe since the very first year and have really enjoyed getting to see this indie craft show grow into a huge event! This year, I really focused my work as an artist into what I do best right now, crochet. I decided to forgo all the other crafty bits that I usually take to Deluxe and really made it about my crochet designs. I've been working on a digital lookbook slideshow that will loop in my booth this year to show styling options for my designs. Here's a few photos from the photoshoot:

I will also have coffee cardis and a few granny square stockings this year and maybe a clearance corner to get rid of old stock. ;)

If you are a local reader (Oklahoma City), you should definitely go to Deluxe this Saturday from 11-5 at the State Fair Grounds Centennial Building. It is completely FREE and is the indie craft show that you don't want to miss! Come by and say hi, I love meeting my readers. 

Deluxe 2008 --- Deluxe 2009 --- Sadly I couldn't participate in Deluxe 2010 because of the stress of Bella's death and my grandfather on his death bed (geez last year was AWFUL!) but I did go as a shopper and it was amazing -- the best Deluxe yet!

Currently...

The dogs are getting along, happily chewing on their antlers. (My tiny puppy is now a 15 pound big boy)

 

These ladies are sitting on top of our T.V. awaiting a makeover.

 

Yarn is all over the house and I got new socks :)

 

I'm whipping up hats and ear-warmer headbands as fast as my hands will let me. 

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We still have a lot of time with friends and family ahead of us. I'm enjoying my long weekend!

Announcing... Crochet School!!

It has been a long long time coming, but crochet school is ready !!!

I wanted this class to be like going to school so  I have created a syllabus for you to look at. Yes, I was an education major in college. Glad you noticed.

Class starts on Saturday, October 1st! I realize this is very soon, but don't worry if you can't get started right away, everything will be here waiting for you. I wanted to give all of you time to learn so you can start making holiday gifts. 

Oh and just in case you skip the syllabus, this class is F-R-E-E free! 

A few F.A.Q.s 

1. Even though I'm calling this "school" and I talk about a "class" this whole thing is on this blog. I suggest you subscribe to the blog using one of the tools on the left side-bar so you don't miss a lesson or bookmark http://www.craftyminx.com/crochet-school  to only see these posts.
2. The class starts in October, but all of the information will be up long after, so don't worry if you don't have time right now or if you miss a lesson. After all the posts are up I'll make an easy to follow table of contents so you can go from post to post without having to wade through all my other blog posts. 

Please share the word! I would feel really bad doing all this work and only have 3 of you following along.

Motif Fall Issue

The new issue of Motif is about the New Feminine! I haven't gotten a chance to read through the whole thing yet, but flipping through I could tell it is really beautiful! I shared a granny square tutorial for this issue.

A Granny A Day - Week 28

I haven't actually finished the blog posts for all of these this week so I'll update the image map as soon as I do. I'm so behind on blogging the granny a day project because I was in a rut and needed to work on some other crafty things. I think it's just because I've reached the half-way point of my 365 project. I can't stop, but it's getting harder to find the motivation to keep going. I think this is common for 365 projects. I'm still making my granny a day, but I'm finding it harder to be strict on myself about blogging it each day. I can't be...That's like 2 hours each day that I can't do anything else but crochet, block, photo, edit, and blog granny squares. So I've been saving up my squares and photographing them all once or twice a week when I know I'll have good lighting. It is just what I need right now and it's working for the most part. 

Speaking of other crafty things, Remember my embroidered icons from last week? They have been so popular, that I decided to make more for an abundance of social networking sites. Like 20 more to be exact. I started working on them this morning and they are super cute! There are even ones for pinterest, ravelry, and bloglovin'. And... I'm going to share all of them with you so you can put them on your blogs! I'm not sure how long it will take me. I got about 8 of them watercolored today while I had a little crafty get-together with my friends Amy and Jemellia and I am going to try to do a few more each night this week. I'm sooo excited about these and am so glad that so many of you loved them. I think I have all the sites covered (there's even one for Myspace... does anyone still use Myspace?), but if you have any special requests for specific social networking sites let me know in the comments. I won't be making any other sidebar items at this time, but may take some commissions on after I finish with this project.

I've started a new color palette and I'm really loving it! I'm still working on putting one of my blankets together. It will probably take me a few more weeks.

We have had my wonderful friend Staci and her husband staying with us this weekend so there was no time for posting on Friday. So you get these today. I think I have a full week of posts planned out too! I've just got to get busy tonight. Oh and Staci and I did a vlog together while she was here. I'm excited to share that with you guys! We might do one or two more today too. We've been thrifting this weekend too and yesterday I found my dream sewing machine. I can't wait to share that with you on Thursday.
