Hi there! Thanks for stopping by my little piece of the internet world. Craftyminx is me, Dana Beach, a twenty-something year old girl living in Oklahoma City.
The name Craftyminx was born after an episode of American Idol when Simon called Kellie Pickler a naughty minx. I really liked the definition of minx (1. A girl or young woman who is considered pert, flirtatious, or impudent.2. Obsolete A promiscuous woman.) and related it to crafting -- a clever play on words if you will. The craftyminx blog was born the next day (January 16, 2006) on blogspot, I bought craftyminx.com and then moved everything over to Typepad in June 2008. A promiscuous crafter has always been the best way to describe me. I can't settle on one craft. I'm always learning something new and moving on, coming back to an old craft, then picking something else up. So if you're just looking for a knitting blog, or a crochet blog, or an art blog, you won't find it here. I'm all about crafting, living life to its fullest, and learning lots of new things.
I own a tiny house from 1920 with my wonderful husband Sheldon and our dog Dewey.
I spend my days daydreaming of crafting at a library day job and my evenings making magic in my home studio. I enjoy crocheting, knitting, embroidery, paper crafts, graphic design, sewing and any other craft I can get my hands on. I love watching geeky television shows, baking cupcakes, and finding treasures at thrift and antique stores.
This blog documents my crafty and personal life and contains many tutorials and patterns for crafty fun. So take a look around and leave a comment so I can get to know you too. I post responses to comments within the comments section and try to send a copy of my response by e-mail. Check back if you're looking for a response to a comment and haven't received an e-mail.
See my typepad profile here for more info about me.
New Readers:
Hello and welcome! If you've never been here before here's an overview of what you can expect from my blog.
You can find great information by using the top navigation bar and right-side category bar. I try my best to make helpful information easy to find.
I post about 3-5 times a week depending on how busy I am. I work a full-time job so blogging is just a side hobby.
Some of my continuous features are:
Happiness Is... - posts where I round up a week's worth of phone photos and some music (these go up on Tuesdays)
Wedding Wednesday - this is pretty much over since I got married September 18, 2010 but I still occasionally find something to say about weddings and post it on a Wednesday with this title.
Thrifted Thursday - Posts about cool things I find at Thrift Stores.
A Granny A Day round up - On Fridays I post photos of my 365 project A Granny A Day and link to my other blog for more information.
What I Wore and Plus-size fashion and beauty - These are fairly new features, but I hope to have more of them as time passes. I've always been a bigger gal and people often comment that I do a great job of dressing myself. So I finally felt comfortable enough to start sharing some of my outfits with you all and some of my make-up tips.
If you just want to see my tutorials, go here.
If you ever have any questions or just want to say hi, please leave me a comment or send me an e-mail using the contact button at the top of the blog. I love hearing from my readers!
Thanks for visiting and happy browsing!
Disclosure:
This is an ad-free blog. I turn down all offers from advertisers because this is a hobby and I personally don't feel right about getting money for doing something I didn't set out to start as a business. If I link to a company's webpage or to someone else's blog it's because I love their product/who they are and want to share it with my readers.
Comment Policy:
I delete any comments I feel are spammy or downright rude because this is my home and I want to keep it a comfortable space for my guests and myself.
