Happy Birthday Friend!

Today is Gypsy's birthday and he received his package yesterday so I can show you what I made him! If you have ravelry you've probably seen some of this.

By far my favorite, and his too...

An Avenue Q T-shirt! Woot. He's getting a graduate degree in English with a folklore emphasis so the back is appropriate.

He knew about the Dashing wrist warmers and they turned out lovely. I had yarn left so I made one of my favorite scarves to knit up. My so called scarf was perfect for this yarn, but only when I knit it sideways. The normal way looked like cat yak. I cast on 192 sts and then knit until I was about to run out of yarn (I ended on row 1) then I did a sewn bind off to make it look like the cast on edge.

I had my friend Jen made these. I had these made because Gypsy joked about wanting one when he saw Jason Mraz wearing one. I like to throw in little surprises. :) I also sent him some D&D minis and some happy meal toys (they had super heroes this month).

Yeah he made out like a bandit this year ( I sent him another package yesterday with a present from coworkers and something else I just had to get him)... Spoiled boy.

A day in progress...

I'm still not feeling well. I took another sick day today. I think going to work yesterday made me feel worse. I think I'll be ok tomorrow. Its just my normal allergy season. I need to be using the neti pot like crazy and I'm not.

I did get to work on a couple of things by knitting in bed again.

Now I'm catching up on podcasts I haven't listened to yet. Yeah, sick days are filled with thrills.

Actually I did have a thrill today... Someone on Ravelry sent me a really nice message this morning. She had lots of kind things to say and it made my whole day a little better. Thanks new friend! :)

I got everything hooked up and ready to go in about an hour. I'm back online and ready to go!

I'm so happy mystery sock part 3 went up today I was beginning to forget how to knit on it. jk I'm definitely glad Mommamonkey was feeling good enough to post it.

I ripped out my swallowtail shawl today in preparation for the secret of the stole. I like that color too much to let it set in my floor and collect dust (which I'm sad to say has been happening for about a month now). Now its back in happy little balls waiting to be swatched. I think I've also got beads picked out. I just don't know if I have enough of them... I need to go searching through my stash again.

Ok time to go workout.

Boo Linksys 2wire

So I've been having problems with my new mac shutting down on me when I get on the internet. The genius at the apple store told me my router (which in my case is also my modem) "doesn't play well with my mac." the mac sees the hardware a volatile and shuts down so it doesn't get hurt. So yay, I went out and had to buy a new modem AND router since mine happened to be a combo. I'm not very happy about this. Anyone have AT&T and a PC and need a new wireless router/modem? We've only had it since April and it works well with PC desktops and laptops. I'll send it to you for free or a for small donation just to get it out of my house. If not its going in the garage sale that my dear friend is having in a couple of weeks.

Lazy day

I'm not feeling well, so I called in and I'm now knitting in bed. I know its bad for me to do, but its one of my favorite things to do. I had to put it in sepia tones so prying eyes can't see what I'm making them. I have to finish this project by noon so I can mail it off to my bff.

Antiques and collectibles are addictive

I bought a lot at Green's Corner yesterday. I had to take my friend Levi there after finding out of his love for antiquing. I couldn't believe that he had never been there. If I lived in Shawnee, I would be there everyday. Here's the rundown... Frankoma: 7 dinner plates, 2 tumblers, and a serving dish Haeger: planter And a cute pink bowl that I needed for my bathroom. Really, I NEEDED it. haha

The serving dish is getting yarn put in it and set somewhere to look pretty. I LOVE that bowl!

Levi is really good at justifying purchases of all kinds. He was with me when I bought four of the six pairs of shoes I blogged about earlier.

so far today...

I've done quite a bit of my to do list, for once! I even did some crafting for Gypsy's birthday present. He is going to be sooo surprised this year. I haven't told him about most of his gifts and I'm not going to ruin it on here. So check back after the 30th and I'll show pics of all the wonderful stuff my bff got for his birthday. I mean 25 is a big year, halfway to thirty is huge! Its even worse that I don't get to be with him on his birthday. Oh well. I'm more than making up for it.

Ok I'm going to bed. I've been working on his project for a couple of hours.

Dreams of crafting dancing in my head...

I have soooo many ideas right now and NO time! Why is it that this always happens to me? I just started grad school this week (6 hours on top of my full time job) and I know its going to get overwhelming soon. This weekend I have to finish some crafting for Gypsy's birthday and that will probably be it for a while. But I'm dying because I have things that I've drawn up ideas for and I want to start them all NOW.

I get my best ideas at work. This week alone I've thought up like five or six t-shirt designs and a quilted laptop cover and matching ipod cover (since my knitted one left much to be desired). I also have a growing knitting queue on Ravelry. I have 1 monkey sock to finish and the socktopia mystery sock to work on. And last night I got myself into a huge knot of sock yarn while trying to re-ball the green yarn that I had started the mystery sock on. Seriously look at this mess...

That's only the beginning of the craziness. We won't even talk about the assignments that are coming up in my classes or that I just signed up for a year of robotic fitness (toning). I'm playing piano for my friend's wedding next weekend and I haven't been able to practice this week. I am ready for some organization and getting used to my schedule. This is really getting annoying

I'm a little better now that I've bought two pairs of shoes. Apparently, I've been needing shoe therapy a lot lately because I've bought these all within the last three months. (the red ones and the black ones were today's acquisitions)

HI, I'm Dana and I'm addicted to buying shoes...

Oh and the yarn mess? Fixed...

What can I say? I could give Maniac MaGee a run for his money.
