Dad's socks.
Yes these are the terrible socks that I started somewhere around 6 months ago. They are done and my dad loves them. He asked for a dozen more. After finishing the first sock, the second sock was finished in no time. I found my love of socks again. Ok maybe not love, but I'm definitely not detested by the thought anymore. I won't be making any more for him anytime soon. He might get half a dozen in his lifetime, if he's lucky.
Book: Sensational Knitted Socks (By far the most useful book I've ever purchased!)
Pattern: Four-Stitch Ribbing Patterns p. 34
Mods: I didn't do a four stitch ribbing pattern, obviously. I wanted these to be plain. And I hoped that I could knit them fast by doing only stockinette (HA!)
Yarn: Regia tweed color #90 knit on size 2 DPN's
The sock is baggy on my foot but they fit my dad perfectly!
Cabled Neck Warmer
This was a knit that jumped out of nowhere and screamed "knit me!!! You must have me!" So I listened and went to buy yarn the next day even though I already had tons of projects ahead of it. It somehow jumped to the top of the list. I'm pretty bad about letting that happen. I am completely in love with the website I found this pattern at. Be forewarned, there are many beautiful and wonderful things here. You will want something if you visit it. I can not be held responsible for inordinate "to knit" lists.
Pattern: Drops Design neck warmer in alpaca
Mods: I did the first increase wrong because I was at work and didn't want to take the time to look up the right increase. This made holes and I was too lazy to unknit the somewhat 300 stitches around the stupid thing. The holes make a great place for ribbon! I never make mistakes. I only make design opportunities!
Yarn: yarn bee sweet delight baby(A hobby lobby brand. I'm not a big fan of yarn bee yarn. Its usually full of knots, but this wasn't that bad. I think there was only one knot in the whole skein. But it did have the wrong gague on the label. Boo!) This yarn is luxuriously soft and very warm! I think its the only yarn bee I would ever buy again.
20 minute mary janes
This was another of those "must make, NOW!!" patterns. I had the yarn so I made it.
Pattern:Off of craftster.
Mods: I threaded ribbon through the sides and tied them up instead of crocheting straps. I think I used about 1/2 a yard of ribbon for each slipper.
Yarn: Lion Brand wool ease thick and quick in Grass. I love this yarn and use it for tons of stuff, but it makes the best slippers ever!
I have a few other things as well, but I think they will get their own posts, because they have tutorials. Stay tuned!
